I don't understand why they're not all avalible in Spanish. Just because you speak Spanish doesn't mean you're ONLY interested in Josephina...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I know what you mean. Or ATLEAST Marisol's should have been! Even if they insist on only having the hispanic characters books availible in Spanish, Marisol's should have been.

I suspect Josefina's were translated to gauge interest, and there really wasn't any significant amount.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I imagine the idea was that if you speak Spanish, you'd be far more likely to be interested in Josefina than in Kirsten, or Molly, and therefore it would make sense to release Josefina's books in Spanish, and at least see if enough people take to them before, perhaps making the other girls' books in Spanish, too.

So, I agree with Sara that the idea was to generate interest. Probably the idea failed (or they would have been keeping up with the new covers), and they simply decided not to do anymore. The fact that they aren't in stores anymore in Southern Arizona is a pretty clear indication that the idea didn't go the way AG was probably hoping it would.

I believe that most Mexican immigrant children learn English within a few years, so I thought these were great, they could read the Spanish and English ones at the same time, to help enforce the learning, but get something more interesting than a simple reading guide.

For the sake of collecting the books, I'm glad Josefina's are the only ones that are in Spanish. However, obviously I agree that it would be nice to see the other books get some recognition in this area.

Does anyone have any? Or even seen any?

I picked up the first book today, as it was at my local used bookstore, and I think I'd like to get them all now, as I believe that would make Josefina happy, .

I imagine they're pretty hard to come by as I've only seen them a few times in stores, and if they're hard to find in the Southwest, they must be really hard to find elsewhere!

Does anyone know if they even made all 6? This one has only the first 3 listed, but I'm pretty sure that's just because it was released along with the first 3 English books, when they released the books/accessories 3 books at a time. However, I can imagine that if they didn't sell too well, they just didn't make the last 3.

I also made a few other nice finds at the used bookstores, Kirsten's Craft book, 6 History Mysteries (guess I'm going to start collecting these as I need something AG to look for in used bookstores!), $2-$3 each, and my favorite purchase, [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1584851031/sr=8-6/qid=1140412149/ref=sr_1_6/002-3402851-7675264?%5Fencoding=UTF8"]The American Girls Game[/ame] for $10, and it seems to be complete.

Thanks for any help on the Josefina books!

AG.com has all 6 books listed with the english Josefina books. They are an option in the box where you choose hardcover or softcover etc. Just pick Spanish. They don't have them as teh 6 book set, you have to choose each book seperatly, and pick spanish.

    The item numbers are

$5.95 74960 Meet Josefina Spanish Paperback (As? es Josefina)

$5.95 74979 Josefina Learns a Lesson Spanish Paperback (Josefina Aprende una Lecci?n)

$5.95 75932 Happy Birthday, Josefina! Spanish Paperback (Feliz Cumpleanos Josefina)

$5.95 75940 Josefina Saves the Day Spanish Paperback (Josefina Entra En Accion)

$5.95 75959 Changes for Josefina Spanish Paperback (Cambios Para Josefina)

It looks like Josefina's Surprise is sold out in Spanish, so if you want any of them, BUY THEM NOW! The others probably won't be around long.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks for posting that! I'm curious as to if I should get them now and pay full price AND shipping, or just wait and hope my used bookstore searching will turn up a few more. I imagine they wont sell out too fast, so perhaps I'll wait a month and see if I can find anymore, and if not, I'll get them from the AG site and hope I can find Surprise elsewhere. Thanks again for posting!

Edit: I really wish AG wouldn't get rid of these. I always liked that they were "inviting" non-English speakers into AG. Hopefully they're just retiring them to bring them out with the new covers?
